Manuel N. Stamatakis

Occupation: CEO
Employer: Capital Management Enterprises
Home: Wayne, PA
Manuel Stamatakis founded his own management consultant firm: Capital Management Enterprises. As Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Ridge appointed him to head a committee charged with finding ways to streamline government. Stamatakis chairs the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA). Under then-Governor Tom Ridge, federal, state and local government entities put up $429 million for DRPA’s efforts to revive Philadelphia’s mothballed shipyards, eventually luring European shipbuilder Kvaerner ASA to the shipyard. DRPA invested $7 million in 1994 in FastShip, Inc. and has pledged to sink $75 million into a terminal for that company if it can ever raise $858 million to build prototype hi-tech cargo ships (see David Girard-diCarlo and William Schubert). Kvaerner has had periodic negotiations to build FastShip vessels if funding ever materializes. President Bush appointed Stamatakis to the Commerce Department’s U.S. Travel and Tourism Promotion Advisory Board.
