Texas lawmakers went outside of their home districts for 75 percent of the $42.5 million that they raised for the 2002 election, according to a new Texans for Public Justice analysis. The state's 150 House members raised $24.7 million, getting just 21 percent of it from constituents in the districts they were elected to represent2. Representing much larger districts, Texas' 31 senators raised $17.8 million, of which just 30 percent came from within the recipient's district. Read More
