Five incumbent members of the Texas Supreme Court will face the voters next month. Yet just one--who has raised more than $1 million--will face a major-party opponent. The four justices who have no funded opposition have collectively raised almost $1.2 million. Lawyers and law firms--many with cases before this court--supplied more than half of the $2.4 million total raised by all high-court candidates.
