Third Court of Appeals Judge Melissa Goodwin was fined $2,050 by the Texas Ethics Commission for accepting a $25,000 loan from her in-laws in the March 2010 primary. The loan is considered a contribution and is limited to $5,000. According to Goodwin's lawyer she "mistakenly read" the law. TPJ filed the complaint against Goodwin on March 30, 2010.
