Funding sources starkly differentiate the two Democratic Hispanic women who have raised $2.1 million going into Saturday's runoff for a Houston Senate seat. Sylvia Garcia got most of her money from a plaintiff firm that bitterly opposes Carol Alvarado's No. 1 donor--Texans for Lawsuit Reform. And while labor unions are the second-largest source of Garcia's money, a founder of Alvarado's No. 2 contributor, Stand for Children, has boasted about busting teacher unions.
