In October, Texas Governor Rick Perry ordered his state environmental appointees to expedite applications to build new coal-fired power plants in Texas—the first such polluting plants to be built here for 17 years. Four of the six entities seeking new coal plants have given more than $750,000 to Texas PACs and politicians since 2003.
